Preparations for construction of the 4-star plus hotel Royal Torarica has been started after a successful issuance in the first half of 2006.  The N.V. For the first time the Miss India Suriname Pageant will be held in Suriname in the Royal Ball Room of Torarica on Saturday, October 28, 2006. This event is being organized by SurIndia Glamour located in Suriname and starts at 19:30 hrs. The winner of the pageant gets the official title ‘Miss India Suriname’ and has the honor to represent Suriname at the Miss India Worldwide Pageant.

As per November 2006 the airline company Martinair will start their commercial flights, twice a week, between Paramaribo and Amsterdam. The first special VIP-flight will be on Sunday, October 29, 2006. The flight on Sundays will be non-stop while the flights on Tuesdays have a stopover on the Caribbean Island Tobago.

Torarica organizes every 3 months “Torarica’s Celebrity Chef”. During this event a famous Surinamer is invited to reveal his or her favorite dish. The kitchen staff of Torarica selects a special menu based on these favorite dishes and presents them for everyone to taste on a particular evening. At that evening this famous person tells the audience why he/she chose these dishes and how they have to be prepared.
