SALSA FESTIVAL IN TORARICA “Salsuri 2005”
Torarica will be hosting a Salsa festival in Suriname in
November 2005 for the first time ever. The Salsuri Foundation
located in the Netherlands, presents a salsa holiday to this
tropical paradise from the 13th until the 27th of November.
Purpose of this event is not only a new location, but also a
festival particularly organised by Surinamese to let the Surinamese
population get to know salsa the way it flourishes in the
Netherlands.

For two weeks participants can enjoy the country (culture),
festivities, live bands, workshops, excellent food and drinks,
excursions and entertainment. This is a unique possibility for
non-Surinamese salseros to experience this former Dutch colony,
especially on the 25th of November when Suriname celebrates her
30 years of independence (Srefidensie). |

The Salsa workshops are taught by teachers from Latin America.
They are professionals who dedicate themselves entirely in
sharing their international dance knowledge they gained over the
previous years. They are selected because of their good teaching
skills, their enthusiasm and because of their knowledge of
different styles of dancing.
Excursions will be arranged to the rainforest as will daytrips
into Paramaribo to get acquainted with the history of Surinam. |
