Dutch Cabaretier Seth Gaaikema in Torarica
 |
On March 16, 2005 the popular Dutch Cabaretier Seth Gaaikema performed in the sold out Ballroom of Torarica. After a medical setback of a hart attack and voice problems, he made his come back in 2004 with a fantastic show which he wants to share with everyone. As he says: “Born again with the optimism of a survivor”.
His show (in Dutch “De orkaan doorstaan”) contained topical social Dutch but also Surinamese subjects presented in a satirical and humoristic way. Menno Theunissen played on the piano. The show was sponsored by the Dutch Embassy, Assuria N.V., De Surinaamsche Bank N.V, Fernandes Concern Beheer N.V. and N.V. Hotelmaatschappij Torarica.

performing since 1967. His shows were also very popular on
television. He wrote the Dutch versions of famous musicals like the
Phantom of the Opera, Evita and Miss Saigon.
The show in Torarica was a great success and the audience enjoyed
every minute of Gaaikema’s performance.
